Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions about counselling. If your question is not answered or you need more information, feel free to contact me for more information. Together, we can determine if my services are the right fit for you and your needs.
1. What services do you provide? I provide counselling services and support for individuals, children, youths, and families, including:
2. What can I expect during my first visit? During the first counselling session, I will meet with you one-on-one in a cozy office space to discuss the process of therapy. This conversation will include client confidentiality and the limits of confidentiality, and will help begin the therapeutic relationship. 3. How often do I need to attend, and for how long? Therapy is very individualized, and each person comes with their own expectations and needs. I prefer to start with appointments once per week in order to create trust and rapport between us. After that, sessions may become less frequent. Some clients only attend 3-6 sessions, and others, many more. It all depends on your needs and progress.
4. What is confidentiality? Confidentiality means that the things we discuss in sessions will stay between us. There are, however, some limitations to confidentiality. In the following circumstances, I have to provide you or your child the extra support and help needed by bringing in further services:
If you tell me you are going to physically harm yourself or someone else (including suicide).
If you tell me you are being abused or you know of a child or elderly person that is being abused (physical, emotional and sexual abuse).
If your file is subpoenaed under the court of law I must turn your file over to the judge.
5. How much does counselling cost? Individual session (50 minutes) - $160 Couples session (50 minutes) - $180 Extended session (80 minutes) - $240
